After an excellent breakfast at the hotel, we took off for a full day of sightseeing. How full? We walked over 9 miles according to my Fitbit.
All I'm going to say about breakfast at the hotel is "cacio e pepe eggs."
We toured the Jewish Quarter in the morning. The walls of the Pynkas Synagogue are adorned with the handwritten names of the over 77,000 Jews who were murdered by the Nazis. To add insult to injury, the Communists wiped the walls clean and the names had to be rewritten after Czech independence. I had read about the Jewish Cemetery but was not prepared for the sight of the densely packed headstones.
We walked over the Charles Bridge and rubbed the statue to have our wishes granted.
We took a tram up to the castle. It was a good call as the climb is quite steep.
Great views of the city from the castle grounds.
The cathedral was my favorite part of the Castle grounds.
Prague is a great walking city but since we went to all the tourist sights it wears you down. Imagine being in Times Square for an entire day.
After a quick snack and a drink at the hotel, we walked south along the river to see the Dancing House.
We are having traditional Czech food for dinner tonight. I think that means soups and meats in thick sauces and goulash.
